High Quality Construction
The Samyang 14mm f/2.8 IF ED UMC Aspherical Lens features high build quality, with a built-in petal shaped lens hood to help shade the lens from light sources behind the camera. Constructed from metal and high quality plastic, the 14mm features a smooth dampened manual focus ring, the aperture ring features 1/2 EV steps.
The lens’ ribbed manual focus ring ensures smooth and well-damped adjustment and provides a positive manual focus, particularly suitable for more professional videoing / filming with DSLR’s where manual focus is preferred, enabling focussing pulling whilst video recording.
Built-in Electronics for Nikon
The Samyang 14mm also features an impressive optical construction with emphasis on attaining the best optical performance possible. 14 elements are arranged in 12 optical groups with 3 high refractive index elements, 2x ED element, an aspherical hybrid element plus a aspherical glass element. Anti-reflective layers – UMC – Ultra Multi Coated are incorporated to minimise flare and ghosting. Despite the number of elements, Samyang have managed to produce a relatively fast aperture of f2.8.
This Nikon AE version features a built in CPU / electronic circuit, which allows for full control of exposure parameters accessible from Nikon DSLR cameras. It also allows i-TTL flash communication and EXIF data.
